Orbit Announces First Acquisitions by New Digital Imprint Orbit Works

New York, NY— February 5, 2024

Orbit Works, Orbit’s new digital publishing imprint, will publish its first four science fiction and fantasy novels starting in Fall 2024.

The first Orbit Works title will be Sophia Slade’s Nightstrider, a dark fantasy about creatures with the ability to cross the boundary between the dream realm and the real world. Slade has previously independently published seven books, ranging from dark fantasy to poetry.

Nightstrider will be followed by Laura J. Mayo’s debut How to Summon a Fairy Godmother, a fresh and hilarious expansion of the Cinderella tale; Katie Hallahan’s The Twice-Sold Soul, a contemporary LGBTQ romantic fantasy; and Level: Unknown by David Dalglish, who has previously written 17 books published by Orbit and 47North, in addition to 12 independently-published novels. Level: Unknown will be Orbit’s first LitRPG novel, a subgenre that merges the statistical progression of video games with the narrative storytelling of traditional SFF novels.

“We’ve had great success with our open submission program, with three of our four premier titles coming directly from our inbox,” says Orbit Works editor Stephanie Clark.  “We’re beyond excited to share these first Orbit Works titles with SFF fans around the world, with many more to come.”

Orbit Works titles will be published globally, in both ebook and digital audiobook formats, by the Orbit publishing team. Orbit Works is now open to submissions from both agented and unagented writers. More information is available at the Orbit Works website, orbitworks.net.
