Some books are like a jolt of espresso; they get heart rates up and pages flying. These books certainly have their appeal, as evidenced by the great success of their authors. I’m thinking of thriller champions like Harlan Coben, David Baldacci and Michael Connelly.

Just like Castle, Baldacci intends to produce more books in a series about D.C. Police Chief Beth Perry. Unlike Castle there is no mention of Baldacci making his one ride-along a regular event as he and Lanier solve many wacky crimes and trade bon mots.
