On Six Pixels of Separation

Published by Office Staff under Blog

David’s novel Stone Cold is mentioned in a post titled “The Long and the Short of The Long Tail” on the Six Pixels of Separation blog, which comments on a Harvard Business Review article.

In a typical year, Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books) goes to market with 275 to 300 book titles spread across two catalogs—its fall and winter lists. For each list the company identifies the handful of books it believes have the greatest sales potential and gives them the full benefit of its marketing capabilities. Of those, it spotlights just two ‘make’ books, one fiction and one nonfiction, for which the company’s publisher is willing, in her words, to ‘pull out all the stops.’ In the fall of 2007 those books were David Baldacci’s Stone Cold and Stephen Colbert’s I Am America (and So Can You!)

In The Mercury News

Published by Office Staff under Print, Web

David is mentioned in an article titled “‘Devil May Care,’ But Readers Won’t” about the latest novel in the James Bond series in The Mercury News [San Jose, CA].

But the novels are different, and “Devil May Care” exposes all the potential hazards. There are two main audiences for a Bond book in 2008: those loyal to the Cold War-era 007, and those who, while paying proper homage to Bond, are devotees of more modern thrill writers in the Robert Ludlum-Jack Higgins style, such as Vince Flynn and David Baldacci.

In The Guardian’s “Digested Read”

Published by Office Staff under Podcast/Vodcast, Print, Web

David’s latest novel, The Whole Truth, is “digested” (and lampooned) in 400 words in The Guardian’s “Digested Read.” You can read the summary on The Guardian’s Website and listen to the Digested Read podcast.

Creel rubbed his hands on his 23,019-metre yacht as a border skirmish broke out between Russian and Chinese troops. Oil was up to $130 a barrel. The world was in crisis. Just as well no one in the book realised that was actually a $9 fall.
